Gulf Coast Environmental Systems is excited to welcome Mr. Mike Hornsby. Mr. Hornsby is a Controls Engineer and PLC Programmer, who recently moved from Indiana, to join our control panel team, with his wife, Tina. With nearly twenty-five-years of experience, he has worked in facilities across the globe, from Canada to Vietnam, and GCES is thrilled to have him onboard.
Mr. Hornsby received his BS in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 1996, and has since worked with some of the biggest names in the business, from Johnson controls to Maxon Corporation. He started working with PLCs and interpretation in 2000, after a friend of his introduced him to it. He prides himself on staying up to date on any changes in the field, including NFPA updates. Mr. Hornsby says he is drawn to this field because “things are never the same, there are always new things to do and learn.”
He was drawn to the world of pollution control solutions after seeing units on previous jobs. He is familiar with how many problems facilities often face when trying to meet regulatory standards, and he is excited to be a part of the solution. Mr. Hornsby has expressed an intense interest to expand GCES’ already impressive abilities when it comes to custom controls, and has already taken on a leadership role in the panels shop. When asked about what he want out of this role with GCES, he said “I am just looking forward to giving good customer service. That doesn’t really exist, anymore.”
This customer-first, innovative mindset is why Mr. Hornsby is going to flourish at GCES. He agrees that Texas will suit him well, with his love of cars and motorcycles, and his strong dislike of the snow and cold weather. We here at GCES are ecstatic to have Mike in-house, and cannot wait to see what exciting changes and developments he brings to our solutions.
